Corporate Girl Turned Ski Fanatic

Day 106 (102 @ JHMR) - April 7th, 2014 - JHMR: Each year the 100 club and the employees are given 3 hours the day after closing where they spin the Tram and Thunder. It is a very special time to reflect and enjoy the slopes for a few additional hours. We landed first tram and 2nd to last to take advantage of every minute. Each year, on the last tram we take one last dip into the side country for an intimate visit to reflect on the season. This year, with the total of 494 inches and another 7 inches on that when we woke up it made for fun first tracks on Rendezvous Bowl to start off the fun. To finish ‘er off on the last run, we took one last run down spacewalk and through rock springs. All in, it has been an incredible 220 days at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort over the past two seasons. The memories are countless and incredible, topped with marrying the love of my life at the top of the tram. Thank you JHMR for so many wonderful memories. See you next year!

Day 105 (101 @ JHMR) - April 6th, 2014 - CLOSING DAY @ JHMR: The morning was spent finishing up one last roasting session with Stefan at Jackson Hole Roasters and the afternoon was spent finishing up the season at JHMR. The last day of a ski season has a bag of mixed emotions full of excitement, sadness, thrill and a lot of celebrating. And today, it was puking snow. To kick things off, I enjoyed the 2nd to last waffle at Corbett’s Cabin. That was soon followed by a few runs and then the celebrations began…. we can just leave it at that. Boy was it fun. Viper glasses on and celebrations galore ending with our annual stay at The Hostel. What a magical season in more ways than one. Lots of love to everyone at JHMR.

DAY 104 (100 @ JHMR!!!) - April 5th, 2014 - JHMR: This year has been a little different than last. It was a very big challenge to score 100 days at the resort vs last year I had 118 by closing day. With working non stop on my new coffee roaster shop in Hood River, OR it took me away from the slopes for over 18 days. Every day we were in town, I hit the village for some turns. I am extremely happy I still made the 100 club and today marked the day which also is the day that the 100 club celebration took place. The best part, BACON! lots and lots of bacon! From there it was one of those mornings that the groomers were flat out fun as all get out. So to celebrate 100 days we hit 10 super speedy groomers for a morning ski:

  • LUPINE WAY -> AMPHITHEATER
  • GRAND
  • CIRQUE
  • LARAMIE BOWL
  • BIVOUAC
  • DOG FACE -> LARAMIE BOWL
  • RENDEZVOUS TRAIL -> TRAM LINE
  • SUNDANCE -> TERRAIN PARK
  • SUNDANCE UPPER
  • WIDE OPEN - TERRAIN PARKS DOWN

And then a break to do errands, work on some projects and come back at 2:30 for another dose of fun that was more in the closing season weekend category. A fun tram lap and sublette lap than ended in a secret stash for a closing fiesta and down to another closing fiesta and down to another closing fiesta… you get the drift. =) Fun times all around.

Day 102 (98 @ JHMR) - April 3rd - JHMR: It was short, and it was sweet but it was sure fun. Late afternoon ski possy of 8 of us tooling around the resort. Good times and great memories. Today also marks 2 weeks of being married. We went back for a snack and to visit the scene of where our marriage license was signed for kicks. A few fun ski runs and of course LOKI is enjoying every last day in the village as well. Time really does fly, it was a good reminder to appreciate every moment today.

Day 103 - 99 - April 4th, 2014 - JHMR: Just like that the ski season is wrapping up over the next 4 days. Skis take more rests as you find secret spots around the mountain to collect with your friends and take in all of the memories and last moments together on the hill. It is a special time of year. Sometimes it can be a little nerve wrecking because the change of season is in the air. Yet you just have to embrace it and take it on and get ready for the new adventures ahead.

Day 101 (97 @ JHMR) - April 2nd - JHMR: Let’s just say Gaper Day had us moving a little slowly today. Yet by the time we hit up JHMR in the afternoon we were felling mighty frisky. Tooling around enjoying a little fresh blanket of snow and having a fun time taking in every last ski run and memory we can before the resort closes next week. So now, you hustle to check little or big projects off of your list, all of course within what conditions will allow. So today, we checked off a little mini chute of fun called meet your maker. Gotta tag that each year. Cheers!

GAPER DAY EXTRA - DAY 100: Gaper Day always tends to score it’s own post. So here it is in all of it’s glory. Thunder Bumps Jumps, bacon fest, mega flasks full of lemon drop, and on an on. It is shocking that it is already April 1st and closing week! #timeflies

DAY 100!!! (96 @ jhmr) - APRIL FOOLS DAY aka GAPER DAY! - JHMR: Day 100 landed on gaper day this year. The National Holiday on April 1st is a serious hit here with outfits that will knock your socks off. This always takes up two posts so for the first, here are the Koudele family photos. We also were honored to have a special photo shoot for our blog and captured that prior to all of the gaper shenanigans. More on that soon…

Day 99 (95 @ jhmr) - March 31st - JHMR, side country, Teton Pass: What a magical day. 22 inches of new snow in the past 48 hours was a nice way to come back from a week off working super hard in Hood River to bring Stoked Roasters to life. Moody weather, great company and really fun snow made it for a really fun time whipping out tram laps into the side country one after another with walk on trams non the less. Later in the evening we took Loki for a skin and ski on Teton Pass. Definitely ended up being one of Loki’s all time favorite days also. Appreciating every last day we get here at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort!

Day 98 (94 @ jhmr) - March 23rd - JHMR: One last hoorah before driving the first huge load back to Hood River and to focus for 6 days on opening my new coffee roaster (Stoked Roasters). Even the moose came out to wish me safe travels =) CANNOT WAIT! I am excited to come right back after to my hubby to finish up the season here in Jackson Hole and lock in day 100 at the resort in good fashion. We enjoyed celebrations with Claire and SheJumps to raise money and even Loki helped out. What a stud. Tis spring and the season of ringing the bell at the VC so a freebie shot also went down. Yummy Ullr.

Day 97 (93 @ jhmr) - March 22nd - JHMR: Two days later we are more in love than we were the day before. And exhausted. Taking advantage of empty gondis of catnaps between runs.

Day 96 (92 @ jhmr) - March 21st - jhmr: Well here you have it. Our wedding day FLEW BY! BEST DAY EVER. Today was super fun having a big breakfast at Nora’s before some folks went home and then it was a fun brother sister, boyfriend, husband, wife ski sesh. Apres with loki in tow for a bluebird afternoon. Good times.
